About The Firm
Edward prides himself in developing a rapport with clients by providing a comprehensive, yet cost-effective, approach to understanding the legal significance of each transaction, while taking a practical approach to the resolution of disputes. His straight-forward, honest style has earned him the deserved respect of colleagues and clients, as well as a reputation for being an effective and reliable ally. As one of few attorneys with a Masters degree in Business Administration, Edward understands the "big picture," as it relates to running a business, and provides legal and business counsel with the goal of protecting and advancing his clients' bottom line.
Prior to founding Thomas Law, Edward gained valuable legal experience as an associate in the business and commercial transactions practice group at a large Indianapolis law firm, where his practice consisted of handling complex business and commercial litigation in state and federal court, including issues involving shareholder, partnership and LLC disputes. After several years practicing in a law firm environment, Edward gained valuable business-related experience while serving as General Counsel for a multi-million dollar technology company. Under Edward's leadership, the technology company was successfully sold through acquisition to its largest competitor.

Our Mission
Edward D. Thomas, Sr. launched Thomas Law to provide affordable, high quality legal services to small businesses, non-profits, entrepreneurs, and individuals. Edward understands that there is an entire middle market of businesses not currently being served because they are priced out of traditional legal services. This is why products like LegalZoom and Rocket Lawyer have become popular. For the price, at least in the short term, many businesses are content with the end product they receive from these services. However, these services are unable to provide an essential factor that will save these businesses time and money down the road - the human element.
After spending years working at a large Indianapolis law firm, Edward leverages his professional experience, knowledge, and training in problem solving and providing straight-forward analysis for his clients by integrating “big firm” strategies into a cost-effective, transparent, and efficient small firm practice.
Capitalizing on his big firm background, Edward applies that same work ethic, attention to detail, and mandate for quality, while ensuring legal services are available to Indiana’s small business community.

Prior to joining the Indiana Bar in 2010, Edward gained valuable experience while serving six years active duty as a paralegal with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps. While deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Bagram Afghanistan, Edward cleared a database backlog of international damage claims against the U.S. government dating back to 2001. Additionally, he ensured quick accessibility of opinions by interfacing seven years of legal files into an electronic database while deployed with NATO's Stabilization Force Headquarters, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Edward further expanded his legal knowledge by serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Cynthia Ayers, Marion County Superior Court Civil Division, as well as the Public Defender of Indiana during law school, prior to joining an Indianapolis law firm as a summer law clerk in 2007.
Edward is currently one of fourteen commissioners appointed by the Governor to serve on the Indiana Business Law Survey Commission ("BLSC"). The BLSC is responsible for advising the General Assembly on current laws affecting the business community, including making recommendations to ensure that the State of Indiana promotes a healthy and attractive business climate.
